                La problématique des médias dans l’Afrique pré-coloniale s’est relativement limitée, jusqu’ici, à la description des instruments de communication utilisés a cette époque. Or, loin de se borner à leur rôle de simples outils de transmission de l’information. Ces instruments font partie intégrante d’un système socioculturel fondé sur un projet de société spécifique. Au-delà de la simple description des instruments de la “communication élargie“ dans le contexte de l’Afrique traditionnelle, la présente étude esquisse une analyse des modes de gestion et de fonctionnement de ces médias traditionnels africains. Il s’agit de dégager les caractéristiques et spécificités des médias dans l’Afrique d’avant la colonisation à partir du rapport qui s’établit entre le média et le lien social dominant.

                The problematic of the pré-colonial African media is relatively limited, right to this period, to the description of communication instruments used during the pré – colonial period. For from playing their roles simple toles of transmitting information, duse instruments constitute an integral part of a socio – cultural system based an a specific sviety project.

                Spart of a simple description of instrument of communication in the context of traditional Africa, the present study understables an analysis of the means of management and functioning of the traditional Africa media. It consists of underprinwing the characteristics and specifies of the media in Africa before colonisation, and as it shoom from the relationship it established between the media and the dominant social linage.
