SÉMIOLOGIE DE LA COMMUNICATION PICTOGRAPHIQUE ET IDÉOLOGRAPHIQUE

                    Pratiqué dans la partie méridionale du Cameroun, ainsi que dans la zone septentrionale du Gabon, de la Guinée équatoriale at du Congo au 19 ème siècle et dans la première moitié du 20 ème siècle, le jeu de l’ABBIA retient l’attention du sémiologue à un triple titre : d’abord au plan de l’écriture, ensuite au niveau de l’information et, enfin, à l’échelon du mode de communication.

                    En effet, les pictogrammes et idéogrammes gravés sur les jetons de ce jeu de hasard constituent une écriture synthétique (par opposition aux écritures analytiques, basée sur le mot, e phonétiques, axées sur la syllabe puis le son).

                     L’auteur de la présente étude décode les unités minimales signifiantes de cette écriture synthétique. Il analyse aussi la nature et la quantité des informations que véhiculent les jetons d’ABBIA. Enfin, il décrypte le fonctionnement de ce système de signes que forme l’ensemble des 16000 jetons recensés et dont le registre sémiologique participe de la communication mythique et symbolique.

                                                                      ABSTRACT

                  The games of ABBIA, played in the southern part of Cameroon as well as in the northern part of Gabon, Equatorial Guinéa and Congo in the 1919 the century and in the first half of the 2019 the century, is striking to the semiologist on a three-fold level: firstly, at the level of the writing, secondly, at the level of the information conveyed, and thirdly, at the level of the mode of communication.

              In fact, the pictograms and ideograms engraved on the tokens of this game of chance constitute a synthetic writing (as opposed to an analytic writing based on the word, and phonetics, based on the syllable and sound).

                  The author of this study decodes the minimal significant units of this synthetic wrinting. He equally analyses the types and amount of information conveyed by the ABBIA tokens. Lastly, he deciphers the functioning of this system of Signe formed by the collection of 16000 tokens inventoried and whose semiological register partakes of mythical and symbolic communication.
