Longevity records of southern African weavers
Abstract
This paper presents longevity records for all southern African weavers, based on the SAFRING database, as in August 2016. The greatest elapsed time for a southern Africa weaver is 15 years 4 months 15 days for a Southern Masked Weaver Ploceus velatus. Twelve southern African weaver species have longevity records over 10 years. The rest of the weaver species can be expected to achieve recorded longevities of more than 10 years with sufficient ringing effort.Downloads
