Author Guidelines

About the journal
The Southern Journal of Engineering Education is a scholarly forum for the publication of original research that is relevant to the international engineering education community. Please see the journal’s Aims & Scope for more information about the focus as well as the journal’s Open Access Policy.

Peer review and ethics
Submissions must not be under consideration at any other journal; if any part of the paper has been published elsewhere, contributors are responsible for securing the necessary permissions. All submissions are screened by the editorial panel and, if accepted for further consideration, are subject to a double-blind peer-review process managed by an associate editor.

For purposes of blind peer-review, all author and institutional identifiers (including in-article citations) must be removed.

Timeline and revisions
All contributors must be prepared to wait for between 12 and 16 weeks for a final decision on their submission if it is peer reviewed.

Article length
Article submissions must be original research, and must be between 6000 and 8000 words excluding references and endnotes.

Article style
All article submissions must be written in UK English in accordance with the journal’s style guide which includes a link to a template. Please ensure that you use Times New Roman font, 12pt, 1.5 line spacing. Authors are encouraged to work through the provided pre-submission self-assessment of their papers before they submit.

Review papers
Review papers should be between 4000 and 6000 words in length and make an original argument that extends beyond simply summarising literature. Please look carefully at the aims and scope of the journal before considering or proposing a research review.
